A Special welcome at St Mary’s, Brading to Lola Mae Elton-Walters and her family, as she joins us for her baptism this joyful Easter morning.
St John’s, Yaverland have their APCM on Sunday 27th April at 12:30pm. Do come along to vote for Churchwardens, elect PCC members and hear about the work of the church.
St Mary’s have the first of their Plant Sales on Saturday 3rd May from 10.30am in the church hall. There will be refreshments, cakes, stalls and all things plant related! Farmer Ralph will also be there selling his fresh produce. The second one is Saturday 17th May. All are welcome.
St Peter’s Flower Festival is on 10.00am - 4.00pm from Saturday 3rd to Monday 5th May. You are also welcome to come to a special preview on Friday 2nd May from 6.00pm. £5 entry will give you a glass of wine and canapés, with proceeds to church funds. The Community Partnership May Fayre takes place in Madeira Road and the church garden on Bank Holiday Monday (5th May) from 10.00am-1.00pm. All are welcome by a small donation.
The winners of the March 8 Bell Club draw are: No.68, Lynn Attwood, No.57, Mike Marlow, No.38, Lola Elton-Walters. On Sunday 4th May there is a 'Spring Garden Opening' in aid of both St. Lawrence and Brading Bell Restoration Appeals, at Woolverton Farm House, St Lawrence PO38 1XG from 2.00pm - 5.00pm . Tickets on the gate Adults £5, Children under 12 FREE, Dogs on leads welcome. Please see posters for more info.
VE Day celebrations: We are holding a brief service of Remembrance in St Peter’s memorial garden at 6.00pm on Thursday 8th May, followed by fish and chip suppers around the village. At 9.30pm there will be reading of the official VE Day 80 tribute and beacon lighting in front of The Old Fort. Commemorations continue at St Peter’s on 11th May at the 11.00am Service. Prayers of Commemoration will also be said at the Service of the Word in St Mary’s on Sunday 11th May.
On Sunday 11th May starting at 2.00pm there is a Cream Tea at St Mary's Church hall. Limited deliveries are available for those unable to get to the hall, (to book either see Margaret or contact Marghanita at bradingbells(at)hotmail(dot)com.) Adults £5 under 16s £3. In aid of the bell restoration appeal.
St Peter’s will hold their APCM on Sunday 11th May at 12.30pm after the VE Day Service in the church.
Revd Karen and Sue Whitewick will be leading a training session for all Chalice Servers, both experienced and new, on Friday 16th May at 10.00am at St Peter’s church.
Thank you to everyone who helped make soup, serve or attended the Lent Lunches at St Peter’s this year – they were very popular and most enjoyable.
